What is the infected blood scandal and how many people died?

The infected blood scandal refers to a tragedy that occurred in the United Kingdom in the 1970s and 1980s, where thousands of people were infected with HIV and hepatitis through contaminated blood products.

It has been estimated that around 4,670 people were infected with HIV and around 28,000 were infected with hepatitis as a result of this scandal. Sadly, many of those affected have since died from complications related to these infections.

The scandal has had a lasting impact on the lives of those affected and their families, as well as on the healthcare system and the blood donation industry.
